Officially King’s
Before the academic year commences, all King’s Plus students will be invited to an Officially King’s event. Students can choose to attend in person or online. Delivered in collaboration with the Student Transitions and Outcomes team, the event includes interactive sessions that introduce life at King’s, an overview of the programme, opportunities to meet fellow King’s Plus students and staff, and talks from exciting guest speakers.
King’s Plus Welcome Fair
In the first term, King’s Plus students are invited to an exclusive, relaxed networking event. This is a great chance to meet a range of friendly professional services staff, ask questions, and build valuable relationships in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Social Connection Events
The main purpose of King’s Plus is to help students build meaningful relationships and a greater sense of community. Throughout the academic year, students will be invited to social connection events, offering opportunities to meet fellow students and staff in a variety of informal, fun, and social settings. These events take place both on and off campus.
Spotlight Talks and Sessions
King’s Plus students get exclusive access to spotlight talks and events led by King’s staff and external guest speakers, showcasing opportunities available at King’s and beyond. Spotlight sessions include talks from the Civic Leadership Academy and the King’s College London Student’s Union (KCLSU).
Online Community and Resources
King’s Plus students are automatically enrolled in the online King’s Plus community. This is a space to network, communicate with other students and staff, share event details, highlight opportunities, and access a helpful bank of resources to support the transition into university life.
Academic Module
King’s Plus students can apply to take part in an additional module in term 1. This 8-week module consists of workshops, seminars, and cultural fieldwork in London. Students engage in object-based learning across disciplinary boundaries, developing academic study skills, e.g., critical thinking, creativity, and reflectivity, whilst receiving opportunities to build networks with staff and students from across all King’s faculties. Please note, this module has a limited number of spaces for students on the King’s Plus programme.
Join the Dots
King’s Plus students have the opportunity to apply for a place on Join the Dots, run by The Brilliant Club. This programme pairs students with PhD student coach in their subject area, to support them during the first six months of their transition to university. Participants will take part in 1-1 and group coaching, helping them to develop study strategies.
King’s Plus students can access an exclusive Student Experience Fund to help cover the costs of participating in extra-curricular opportunities. This might include membership fees for sports clubs, personal equipment for societies, or field trip costs related to their course.
Please note: This fund is not for general living costs or hardship support. Students experiencing financial difficulty can find support here.
