Overview

Our Law with Criminology LLB degree provides students with the core components of a traditional law degree, together with detailed knowledge of how crime, the criminal law and the criminal justice system are shaped by broader political concerns about the causes of crime and patterns of criminality and recidivism. It is designed for students who are interested in socio-legal questions that extend beyond an understanding of specific legal instruments to questions about the construction of criminality and processes of criminalisation, the legitimacy of state punishments and definitions of, and differential access to, justice. Undergraduate law degrees at King’s are recognised around the world for their high-quality teaching, access to academic staff and location in the heart of legal London.

Course essentials

This new LLB course focuses on the study of law and criminology as an intellectual discipline. It can form the first major step towards qualifying for practice as a solicitor or barrister, but is also suitable for students who have a general interest in criminal law and justice and want to explore the area before deciding on a particular vocation.

As well as taking Law -based modules during year 2 and 3 students will have the opportunity to choose criminology modules delivered by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and interact with students studying criminology from the psychological perspective.

After your first year of the Law with Criminology LLB you have the choice of applying for an optional additional year studying abroad at one of our partner universities
