The main student finance package includes:
There is also an Erasmus Grant available for approved student and work placements with European Partners:
You have to pay back loans but you don’t need to pay back grants. You can find out more about repaying back your student loan on the UK Government website.
You may also be eligible for extra help on top of this, e.g. if you study abroad. Find out more about extra help on the UK Government's 'Student finance for undergraduates' webpage.
Please see the previous study page if you have previously completed an undergraduate degree.
Students apply for student finance every year of their course.
You don’t need a confirmed place at university or college to apply.
New and continuing students starting in 2022 are expected to be able to apply from March 2022 with a deadline of 31 May 2022.
You can still apply after this date, but your funding assessment may not be ready in time for the start of term in September.
Applications take between 6-8 weeks to be assessed by student finance, we recommend all students make their applications as soon as possible in order to have all funding in place by the start of term.
There are different arrangements in place for applying for support, depending on where you normally live:
All students in 2022-23 should apply online through Student Finance England. Applications are available online from March 2022 onwards.
The contact number for Student Finance England is 0300 100 0607.
If you normally live in Wales:
New and continuing students can apply online at the Student Finance Wales website.
Alternatively you can call the Student Finance Wales Contact Centre on
0300 200 4050 to request an application form.
If you normally live in Scotland:
The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) will be accepting online applications for student support from around April 2022. You should contact SAAS for information about arrangements in Scotland.
SAAS can be contacted on 0300 555 0505, or you can visit them online.

Other EU nationals
If you are an EU national or the family member of an EU national, you can get information about the financial support arrangements while you are studying at college in England from the Student Finance Services Non-UK Team. The team can be contacted at (+44) (0) 141 243 3570.
If you are a new student, you will need to complete online enrolment, and attend your on-campus registration event in order to be full enrolled.
Funds will be released by the SLC in line with the dates in your Student Finance entitlement letter and only once you have fully enrolled at King's. To note, when your registration is confirmed to SLC, then it usually takes 3-4 for the funds to reach your bank account.
The Student Funding Office confirms student registrations every day, so once you have completed enrolment we will inform the Student Loans Company of your registrations.
If you have any further issues, please contact the Student Funding Office.
The payment schedule indicates the payment dates of your loans and grants. However, if you did not provide your Student Support Number when you enrolled, or stated that you were paying your own fees, please contact the Student Funding Office as we will need to correct your record.
If you have transferred to King’s College London from another institution then please contact the Student Funding Office so that we can update your records.
Please contact the Student Funding Office for guidance on the change of circumstance process and the implications on your funding.
Occasionally, situations arise that are outside your control and may adversely impact your ability to engage with your studies, i.e. ill health, financial difficulties and other personal reasons.
If there is a change in your circumstances, you should talk to your Personal Tutor before completing the necessary paperwork and submitting a request through your Student Records. It is also advisable to talk to The Student Advice Team at King's Student Services if you are considering an interruption of study, transfer or a withdrawal from a programme so they can explain the different effects of doing so.
Once the change (Transfer/Interruption/Resumption) has been authorised by the relevant teams, then the Student Funding Office will liaise with your Funding Body to ensure you receive the support you are entitled to.
If you're a student who won't be taking out a student loan for religious reasons, visit our religious loans webpage for further support and advice.
