Cicely Saunders Institute
King's Capital Projects team took the lead in the construction of the Cicely Saunders Institute at Denmark Hill, at an overall cost of around £10 million.
This impressive new building provides a wonderful home for the Institute. With its stylish handmade brick and wood façade, it was designed to reflect the principles of palliative care, to be a place of hope, care, support and transition.
Plants and vegetation run throughout the building, making it a healing space and a beautiful environment for visitors and staff. Built in a highly sustainable way, it incorporates a host of low carbon technologies including solar thermal water panels, a ground source heat pump, and natural stack ventilation.
More information about the Institute can be found here: http://www.csi.kcl.ac.uk/.
The internal project manager was Raghbir Nagra, Senior Project Manager, Estates & Facilities.
