Once you have passed all the relevant exams you are entitled to have your AKC read out at your graduation ceremony and wear the AKC epitoge as part of your academic dress.
If you complete the AKC in the same year as your graduation ceremony, your details will be sent across automatically to the Ceremonies and Events team who will ensure the epitoge is attached to your gown when you are checked just before you walk across the platform.
If you completed the AKC in a previous year, you are strongly advised to contact the AKC office 6-8 weeks before your ceremony so that we can ensure your name is sent across to the Ceremonies and Events team. This is particularly important for MBBS, BDS and LLB English and French or English and German Law students.
You do not need to have been elected by the Academic Board to graduate with the AKC epitoge.
However, once you have graduated, you are eligible to apply to be elected to become an Associate of King's College. It is this only which allows you to use the letters AKC after your name. Further details are available here.
