The Chaplaincy team organises many events throughout the academic year to which all King's staff and students are welcome.  You can find out more about regular events on each Campus by following the links on the left. 

Life Events

Exploring religious identity & places of worship in London

If you are new to London, the Chaplaincy is able to help you find a place of worship and a community to belong to. We have also arranged various trips to explore some of the many places of worship London has to offer, giving you a chance to learn more about many of the faith communities in the capital. 

Vocations Group

The Vocations Group is open to all King's staff and students who are looking to explore where God may be leading them in their lives.

Baptism, Confirmation and exploring Christian Faith

If you are considering Baptism and/or Confirmation or would like to learn more about Christian faith, please contact any of the Chaplains on the campus that is most appropriate.

Weddings, Funerals and Memorial Services

Services can be arranged for King's students and staff in either of the College Chapels.

Cathedral & Abbey Tours and Retreats

The Chaplaincy arranges regular Cathedral & Abbey tours as well as retreats.

Autumn term 2019

Monday 23 September - Chaplaincy Afternoon Tea (Strand, Bush House, Waterloo & Guy's)

Join us for a (free!) Afternoon Tea to celebrate the start of term. Many of the Chaplains and students from various faith communities will be around. This is a great opportunity to meet other staff and students.

Tuesday 24 September - Underground at Guy's

17.00-19.00, Guy's Chaplaincy

Join us for a fabulous tour of the hidden underground spaces, crypts and tunnels underneath Guy's Campus. The tour will include (free!) pizza in the crypt of St George the Martyr, Borough High Street, and will finish in the vaulted cellars of the Thomas Guy Club.

October & November - AnswersQuestioned, Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church

Are you interested in faith and spirituality, but not in courses that tell you what to believe?

Would you like an opportunity to share a meal and conversation with people who love exploring the implications of the Christian Faith with open minds?

AnswersQuestioned is hosted by Exchange, the young adults and professionals group at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, an inclusive and LGBTQ+ affirming congregation in central London. The Minister at Bloomsbury is Revd Dr Simon Woodman, who is the Baptist Chaplain at King's.

We are replacing Choral Evensong with a Choral Eucharist for the season of remembrance. At this service, we remember our family and friends who have died, reading their naems out during the service.

Fri 15 to Sun 17 November - Cumberland Lodge Weekend, Windsor

A weekend of fellowship and fun in the luxurious surroundings of Cumberland Lodge, a former royal residence in Windsor Great Park. 

The cost is £65 (which is subsidised to a great extent), and some bursaries may be available.

The ancient office of Compline derives its name from a Latin word meaning 'completion' (completorium). It is, above all, a service of quietness and reflection before rest at the end of the day.

This is followed by 'Chapel at Night', an opportunity to spend as long as you wish in a candlelit Chapel in silence.

Wednesday 4 December - Advent Carols, Strand

17.30, College Chapel

A solemn and traditional service of music and readings by candlelight, progressing from darkness to light.

Congregants are required to be seated by 17.20 for a prompt start to the service at 17.30. The duration of the service is approximately 90 minutes and admissions and exits during the service can only be facilitated while hymns are being sung to avoid disruption.

The outstanding Chapel Choir will be singing and mulled wine and mince pies will be served after the service.

Tickets will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite from the end of October.

Come along and join in with the singing of carols! Everyone is welcome to sing, or just listen, and enjoy the mulled wine and festive atmosphere.

Traditionally, this has been a more informal event to which we welcome all members of the King's community. 

This is a chance to sing all your favourite Christmas carols and the Chapel Choir will be singing. No tickets are required for this event, but in recent years it has been very full so come early to grab a good seat!

Thursday 12 December - Candlelit Christmas Carol Service, Guy's

17.30, Guy's Chapel

A moving and beautiful celebration of the birth of Christ. Well known carols, performances of Christmas music by GKT students, followed by mulled wine and mince pies for all. Arrive early as the Chapel is usually packed to capacity for this service.

Spring term 2020

Lent 2020 - Discussion & Study Group

We hope to run Lent discussion and study groups across the various campuses and Christian traditions. If you are interested in joining a regular weekly group for Lent, please email the Chaplaincy.

The Rt Hon. the Lord Adonis, will deliver the lecture on the general theme of Spirituality in Public Life (title tbc).  Tickets are free, but are required - tickets will be released on Eventbrite in early 2020.

The London and South-East Committee of Anatomists invite staff and students from Guy's to attend the annual memorial and thanksgiving service for all who have donated their body to medical research.

It is our tradition to sing hymns outside the gates of King's on the Strand and then process to a Communion service. This is followed by breakfast in Covent Garden.
