Fr John McFadden is a Roman Catholic Priest belonging to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate – an international missionary order of priests and brothers at the service of the Church.
A native of Glasgow, he joined the Oblate order in 1990, professed final vows in 1996 and was ordained priest in 1999. He studied for a primary degree at Milltown Park Jesuit College Dublin before completing his studies at the Oblate Theological College, Cedara Durban, South Africa.
After a short time as an assistant priest in Liverpool, he moved to Edinburgh where he has fulfilled various roles as Parish Priest and School Chaplain. His principal ministry during the last 14 years has been as a fulltime Prison Chaplain serving both male and female establishments.
Following a short sabbatical, he was transferred by his religious order to the Oblate House in Kilburn where he has responsibility for vocations ministry.
