Guys Chaplaincy (2)

***As things stand, the Chaplaincy is working remotely, but is available via email. Chaplaincies, Chapels and Prayer Rooms are closed and all on-site services and events are suspended until further notice - however, the Chaplaincy is still active and you can find out more about what the Chaplaincy is doing during lockdown here. Regular events

International lunch

Every Monday in term time, 12.30-14.00, Chaplaincy (Room G2, next to the Student Services area of the Henriette Raphael Building)

There is such a thing as a free lunch! Come and go as you please - all international and home students and staff are welcome.


Selected dates, 12.30-13.30, Tower Wing, Guy's Hospital

Chaplains (armed with tea and biscuits) will be available to chat about any issues or questions you may have.

Roman Catholic Medical Ethics

A group for students of the sciences and healthcare professions interested in learning about the Roman Catholic Church's response to difficult ethical questions. 

The group will meet on a Monday evening on a monthly basis and will feature input from various guest professionals.

Charity Group

For students interested in serving those in need in the local and wider community.

The first group project will be the 'Put a sock in it!' campaign which is dedicated to collecting clothes for the homeless. All donations will be presented to the Manna Centre located opposite the Greenwood Lecture Theatre.

Good News! Course

A course for those wanting to be Baptised and Confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church and for Roman Catholics desiring to deepen their knowledge of the Faith. The course begins in early October and finishes at the end of May 2020. The day and time of the weekly meetings will be decided by the group.

A Quick Journey Through the Bible - 8 week course

This eight-week course provides an excellent introduction and overview of Scripture from a Catholic perspective. Salvation history is covered briefly from Genesis through to the Resurrection of Christ and the establishment of the Church, giving participants the 'big picture' of the Bible. 

This course is perfect for those who are new to Bible study and all are welcome to take part in it. Sessions will take place on Wednesdays between 3-4.30pm in the Chaplaincy room. The first meeting is on the 9 October.

Special events

Monday 23 September - Chaplaincy Afternoon Tea, Guy's

16.00-18.00, in the Court Yard in front of the Science Gallery (weather permitting) or Guy's Chaplaincy

Join us for a (free!) Afternoon Tea to celebrate the start of term. Many of the Chaplains and students from various faith communities will be around. This is a great opportunity to meet other staff and students.

Tuesday 24 September - Underground at Guy's

17.00-19.00, Guy's Chaplaincy

Join us for a fabulous tour of the hidden underground spaces, crypts and tunnels underneath Guy's Campus. The tour will include (free!) pizza in the crypt of St George the Martyr, Borough High Street, and will finish in the vaulted cellars of the Thomas Guy Club.

At this service we remember our family and friends who have died, reading their names out during the service.

Monday 11 November - Act of Remembrance, Guy's

Please gather from 10.45 for a prompt start.

Thursday 12 December - Candlelit Christmas Carol Service, Guy's

17.30, Guy's Chapel

A moving and beautiful celebration of the birth of Christ. Well known carols, performances of Christmas music by GKT students, followed by mulled wine and mince pies for all. Arrive early as the Chapel is usually packed to capacity for this service.

Thursday 30 January - Candlemas Eucharist & Chaplaincy Dinner

17.30, Guy's Chapel

The Eucharist will take place in the Chapel of Thomas Guy at 17.30, followed by a black tie dinner.
