As a global university in the heart of London, King’s College London recognises the impacts that travel of students and staff has on the environment. More than a third of students at King’s come from overseas, and much of the fieldwork and many of the conferences and other events that staff and students complete as part of their work requires long distance travel, much of which will be by air.

The university is working to reduce the amount of travel by students and staff, and encouraging more environmentally friendly methods of transport, including cycling or walking for shorter distances and choosing rail travel or teleconferencing instead of flying, where possible.

The university has two travel policies, one more focused on international travel and the other on inter-campus travel.
