International research and activity

Leyli Minchola photoFaculty at King’s are involved in research projects that have a profound impact on the world. From Global Health to Arts and Humanities and from Law to Social Science and Public Policy, King's academics and students are working on fields of have an enormous breadth.

Over 84 per cent of King's research was deemed to be of world-leading standard according to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. Much of this research not only has a global impact, but is done with international partners.

King's is heavily involved in cancer research with institutions in China, Chile and India, for example, and our work in depression and HIV in women as part of King's Women's Health department is changing lives.

In Pharmaceutical Science, academics and students are carrying out research with University of Sao Paulo in Brazil to discover potentially revolutionary new antibiotics using the venom from jellyfish stings.

And King's faculties have been working with colleagues in Europe on various projects developing new technologies. We are working with Ericsson and the Technical University of Dresden on 5G telecommunications, while a consortium of British and Dutch researchers have uncovered a way of detecting drugs in the bloodstream from a single fingerprint.

Our Global Institutes are interdisciplinary research groups that bring together research on issues around the culture, health, politics and economics of emerging powers, much of which is having a tangible impact on policy around the world.

This is just a snapshot of some of the research that is going on at King's. Read stories about some of the recent international research projects and other activity here.

Take a look at the King's Worldwide news pages for the most recent international news.

Much of our research is covered in our four Global Themes, which bring together multidisciplinary research under wider issues that are affecting the world today:
