About the UNC-King's Alliance
In 2005, following some earlier pilot activity, the UNC-King’s Strategic Alliance was formally initiated. Since then a wide range of initiatives has taken place, designed to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff from the two institutions. We now believe that this is one of the more ambitious partnerships between a UK and a US institution, bringing growing benefits to both campuses.
The opportunity for undergraduates in an increasing number of fields to study for a semester or a year at the partner institution is now being taken up more widely; doctoral candidates, too, benefit from short-term visits, student-organized workshops, and joint PhD committees. Meanwhile, joint activity led by faculty members has outgrown individual initiatives to generate regular conferences, colloquia, and joint research projects issuing in publication.
The Alliance is only as strong as the ideas that fuel it, and we as convenors welcome approaches from faculty, staff, and students alike: do feel free to contact us:
