Agency in the Anthropocene: Reimagining Education working within PISA

In this presentation Peta White explores how education systems can cultivate agency (for teachers and students) in the Anthropocene by aligning pedagogical practices with the competencies outlined in the PISA 2025 Science Framework. The presentation will explore ideas related to reimagining education that empowers learners to engage critically and collectively with socio-ecological challenges, fostering hope, efficacy, and interdisciplinary understanding.
About the speaker
Peta White is an Associate Professor in Science and Environmental Education at Deakin University and Co-director of the Centre for Regenerating Futures, where she leads research on climate change education, sustainability, and decolonising practices. Her work spans transdisciplinary collaboration, teacher education, and activist methodologies, with a strong commitment to ecological justice and transformative learning.
