Developing a Trauma Informed Care model for homelessness & disadvantage

Online

09JulBench with person's belongings strewn aboutPart of Homelessness series

This webinar will explore the trauma informed, peer-led system delivery model in Blackpool, about which there was a high level of interest expressed at the January 2025 webinar in this series. Colleagues from Blackpool will detail their model development journey, the teams involved in delivery, and their ‘one front door, no wrong door’ approach to support people experiencing homelessness, substance use, poor mental health, domestic abuse, and/or contact with the criminal justice system.

The webinar will be co-led by:

Laura Smy – Multiple Disadvantaged Service Lead/Changing Futures Locality Lead, Public Health, Blackpool Council: leads on programmes and initiatives to improve outcomes, remove barriers, and achieve system change, working with a wide range of partners, including NHS, VCSFE, Prison and Probation Services.

Nicky Plumb – Director of Lived Experience and Co-Production, Empowerment Charity, Blackpool: started her career as an Apprentice Navigator for the Fulfilling Lives Programme, after volunteering with Blackpool substance misuse services, and undertaking a number of roles within the team since. She is passionate about ensuring people's voices are heard and that system wide services are designed to meet their needs.

Tracy Whitfield – Population Health Improvement Manager (Blackpool), Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB: an NHS commissioner working with system wide partners to reduce health inequalities and ensure equitable access for vulnerable groups of people with the highest level of need, yet some of the worst health outcomes.
