Final stakeholder event for the ESMI (Effectiveness of Services for Mothers with Mental Illness) research programme, which examines the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of perinatal mental health services. The programme consists of several linked studies which will allow us to make recommendations to policy makers, NHS commissioners and providers about the type of perinatal mental health services that are most helpful.

This is a stakeholder workshop for the ESMI (Effectiveness of Services for Mothers with Mental Illness) research programme and will include updates on the ESMI studies, including panel discussions with representation from NHS England; Professor Ian Jones; Dr Trudi Seneviratne, Royal College of Psychiatrists; and Rona McCandlish.

Effectiveness of Services for Mothers with Mental Illness (ESMI) is a programme of research funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to examine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of perinatal mental health services. The programme consists of several linked studies which will allow us to make recommendations to policy makers, NHS commissioners and providers about the type of perinatal mental health services that are most helpful.

Our team comprises leading experts in perinatal mental health, health economics, statistics, midwifery, social sciences, service user and health services research. Kings College London members include: Professor Louise M. Howard (Chief Investigator), Professor in Women’s Mental Health; Professor Sarah Byford, Professor of Health Economics and Professor Diana Rose, Professor of Service User Led Research.
