Want to save money and get active this Spring? Unsure about cycling in the city? Want to be more confident on the road? Keen to meet new people?

Join the KCL Cycling Club on 27 April for a guided cycle tour around King’s campuses. Bikes will be provided free of charge by Swapfiets for the afternoon and you’ll learn the rules of the road and tips for staying safe whilst cycling. The tour will start at the Swapfiets store (Swapfiets London 58 Commercial Street London E1 6LT) so that you can pick your own bike (including e-bikes) and will take 2 - 2.5 hours including a coffee break.

This event is a collaboration between the King’s Climate Action Network and the KCL Cycling Club, and aims to help build the confidence of those who want to cycle more in London.

Cycling is a great way to get active and to get around London. However, it can be scary in London with lots of other traffic on the roads. We also find that every year, there are over 50 bikes that are abandoned on King’s Campuses and Residences. This has prompted a review of cycling at King’s and redistributing these bikes is a key focus of the King’s Climate Action Network’s Cycling Project.

The Cycling Project team are currently working to three core aims:

  • To redistribute abandoned bikes – to those that need them (charities or students)
  • To raise awareness of King’s facilities for students and staff who wish to cycle, such as showers and bike storage
  • To promote cycling as a carbon neutral, active travel option for students, staff, and visitors at King’s
