Earlier this month, King’s College London hosted the pre-launch for Nyra, a social enterprise dedicated to creating a platform that connects people, businesses, and communities with climate action in ways that are collaborative, creative, and regenerative.
As global leaders gather in Belém, Brazil for COP30, Nyra is officially launching and is sparking conversations about how climate finance can move beyond traditional models. The platform works by linking individual and corporate partners with smallholder farmers in Ghana and Madagascar, who are adopting sustainable farming practices designed to capture carbon and restore biodiversity. These practices, supported by academic and field partners, strengthen climate resilience while regenerating degraded landscapes. In return, partners receive artistically inspired, carbon-negative products – products that capture more carbon than they emit - crafted from farmers’ outputs, creating a tangible connection between climate action and everyday life.
This approach is about mutual benefit, not charity. By unlocking millions of smaller, distributed actions, Nyra demonstrates that climate solutions can be equitable, measurable, and deeply meaningful. The first Nyra series, focused on Ghana, is projected to absorb 200,000 tons of carbon and restore 400 acres of degraded land, transforming them into biodiverse landscapes that support people, planet and society.
Reflecting on the upcoming launch, co-founder Dr. Amanda Lenhardt explains:
As COP30 highlights the urgency for scalable, nature-based solutions, Nyra offers a model that goes beyond offsets, building relationships, restoring ecosystems, and empowering communities. By joining Nyra, individuals and organisations become part of a movement that transforms landscapes, livelihoods, and the future of our planet.
