Professor Paul Mizen awarded OBE
Professor Paul Mizen has been recognised in the King’s 2026 New Year Honours for services to Economic Research and Public Policy.

Professor Mizen is Deputy Dean, Vice Dean, Research and Professor in Economics, at King’s Business School, King’s College London. His work focuses on the use of economic statistics to support monetary and fiscal policy, corporate investment and productivity, and this has helped to inform public policy.
He is principal investigator and co-founder of the ESRC Decision Maker Panel in collaboration with the Bank of England and University of Nottingham. This survey collects detailed information about senior executives' expectations and the economic conditions facing their businesses. It has provided valuable information for policymakers at the Bank of England and government including 10 Downing St, Cabinet Office, COBRA, HM Treasury, Office for Budget Responsibility, and the Low Pay Commission.
Professor Mizen has been a consultant for the Bank of England and a visiting scholar to the Bank for International Settlements, the International Monetary Fund, the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank and numerous other central banks. In connection with his research, he was appointed as a Fellow of the Office for National Statistics 2018-2022, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in January 2019, and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in March 2019. He was a member of the National Statistician’s Committee for Advice on Standards for Economic Statistics (NSCASE) 2022-2025. He is a member of the Leadership Executive of the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence and The Productivity Institute.
Professor Mizen has published seven books and more than 140 research publications in leading economics journals. He is a Trustee of the Money Macro and Finance Society and a member of the Government of Jersey Fiscal Policy Panel. Prior to joining King’s in July 2023, Paul was Professor of Monetary Economics at the University of Nottingham and a Visiting Professor at the European University Institute, Florence, Princeton University and University of Vienna.
