Abdella Mohammed

Biography

Abdella Mohammed is a postgraduate researcher in the Department of Mathematics, King’s College London.

His work focuses on modern optimisation methodology, particularly in challenging settings that arise in data-driven and machine learning applications. His research explores first- and zeroth-order algorithms capable of handling nonsmooth, nonconvex, and stochastic objective functions, with the aim of developing methods that remain efficient, robust, and theoretically well-understood even under minimal regularity assumptions.

A central theme of his research is understanding how mathematical structure in optimisation problems can be exploited to design algorithms with provable performance guarantees. This includes analysing convergence behaviour, studying the role of problem geometry, and exploring operator-theoretic perspectives that unify various optimisation schemes.

Alongside the theoretical development of new algorithms, Abdella is also interested in their implementation in Python-based computational frameworks and their applicability to problems in artificial intelligence. His broader goal is to contribute methods that are both mathematically rigorous and practically effective in large-scale learning environments.
