Biography
Dr Albert Wood is a Research Associate in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, King’s College London. His mentor is Professor Simon Salamon.
His key research interests are geometric flows and calibrated submanifolds, especially in the presence of group actions and in the context of Kahler and Calabi-Yau geometry. His recent work has focused on singularity analysis, classification of solitons, and gluing constructions for Lagrangian mean curvature flow.
Albert received his MMath from Oxford University in 2015, supervised by Professor Ben Green. After working as a teacher in London, he joined the London School of Geometry and Number Theory to pursue further academic study. He graduated with his PhD in 2020, supervised by Felix Schulze, and his thesis focused on singularity analysis of equivariant Lagrangian mean curvature flow. He then worked as a postdoc at National Taiwan University until 2023, supervised by Professor Chung-Jun Tsai and Professor Mao-Pei Tsui.
Albert has experience as a secondary school teacher, and still enjoys teaching mathematics alongside research. He has helped design and conduct extra-curricular mathematics classes for school children and has spoken publicly to various age groups about mathematics on many occasions, for example as part of the UCL Science Centre program.
