Biography
Aleksander is the Michael Brown Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at the Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law at Stockholm University and a Visiting Lecturer in English Commercial Law at the British Law Centre. He is the Co-Founder of the Young Investment Treaty Forum at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law – an association for early-career practitioners and academics in investor-state dispute resolution.
Before joining King's College London in January 2022, Aleksander was a Researcher in international arbitration and investment law at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He also gained practical experience with High Court commercial litigation and international arbitration matters under the SIAC, DIAC, LCIA, ICC, SCC, VIAC and ICSID arbitration rules having worked at leading London and Austrian law firms.
Aleksander studied International Business Law LLM at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Law with European Law LLB at the University of Nottingham, undertaking a year abroad at the University of Vienna.
Aleksander is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Society of Construction Law, the Society of Legal Scholars and the International Bar Association. He is the joint recipient of the 2024 Hudson Prize from the Society of Construction Law.
Research interests
Aleksander’s research interests are in dispute resolution, construction law, conflict of laws and international economic law. He co-authored empirical reports on construction adjudication in the United Kingdom and the Centre response to the Law Commission consultation on the reform of the Arbitration Act 1996. He regularly publishes articles on international dispute resolution
