Biography

Lt Col Amos Simms ARRC is a PhD Student at the King’s Centre for Military Health Research at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. 

He is a serving officer in the British Army and works within the Defence Medical Services’ Department of Research and Clinical Innovation. As a member of the Academic Department of Military Mental Health his responsibility is to both undertake novel research and to monitor and evaluate global mental health research to ensure the UK Armed Forces employs evidence based mental health strategies, both in the preparation of personnel and in their medical treatment.

Amos is a mental health nurse and therapist, accredited in a range of psychological therapies. Initially starting his career as a general nurse he has provided medical and psychological support on a range of military operations over his 32-year career. He is currently undertaking a PhD exploring remote warfare and the impact of remotely piloted aircraft systems on military personnel.
