Thesis title: Faith and Foreign Policy in Brazil: The evangelical engagement in international relations
This research aims to explore how Brazilian Christian protestants (evangelicals) understand and influence international relations. It intends to look at some of this group’s particular aspects, such as its diversity of denominational and theological affiliation and its preferred channels for political participation. It will draw from Constructivist and Liberal theoretical approaches to examine the role of theology in the formation of an evangelical worldview and how institutions facilitate or constrain their international objectives. This research will use a mixed-methods approach, gathering data through surveying and in-depth interviewing to analyse the evangelical engagement with foreign policy in the Brazilian context.
