Biography
Benjamin Sutton is a PhD candidate in the Department of Physics at King’s College London.
He is in the Theoretical Particle Physics & Cosmology group, supervised by Professor Mairi Sakellariadou.
Ben was awarded an MSc degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from King’s College London in 2020. After graduating he went on to work in industry, first as an IT consultant, and then as an investor relations associate for a financial technologies company prior to starting his PhD.
Since joining the group in 2023, Ben’s work has focused on alternative theories of gravity beyond Einstein’s general relativity. He is particularly interested in exploring and constraining models by studying their modifications to gravitational waves and standard cosmology.
Research

Theoretical Particle Physics & Cosmology
The research focus of the TPPC Group is on tests of new models of particle physics beyond the Standard Model, including supersymmetry, large extra dimensions and strings.

Physics Education Research
The Physics Education Research (PER) group at King's College London was formed in 2021. Our group conducts evidence-based research on the delivery and learning of physics, including the student experience.
