Biography

Franziska Pieper started her scientific career at the Freie University Berlin, graduating with a BSc in Biology in 2017. In 2020, she completed an MSc in Microbiology at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena. The MSc programme reinforced her aspiration to pursue a scientific career, and consequently, she undertook a PhD fund with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Network at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Dr Rosemary Boyton and Professor Danny Altmann.

During her doctoral studies, Franziska explored host-pathogen interactions, focusing on how survival adaptations of Pseudomonas aeruginosa interact with the adaptive immune system, specifically dendritic cells and T cells.
