Mr Gavin Stewart
Research student
Biography
Gavin is an ESRC-funded PhD student within the Re:Spect Research group (2018-2021), being supervised by Prof Francesca Happé and Dr Rebecca Charlton (Goldsmiths, University of London).
Gavin’s research explores the health, quality of life, and cognition of older autistic and broader autism adults. Gavin works with the PROTECT Study, as well as other original older adult data sets collected as part of his PhD. Gavin’s PhD studentship is in partnership with Autistica (the UK’s leading Autism Research charity) and The Albany Centre (an older adults community outreach project in SE London), which allows his research to be enhanced by a range of different stakeholder perspectives and experiences.
Gavin is also an Associate Lecturer in Psychology at Goldsmiths, leading clinical psychology and neurodevelopmental disorders tutorials (2018-Present), and an organiser for the Autism ResearCH (ARCH) Seminar Series at the SGDP Centre (2018-Present).
Prior to beginning his PhD studentship, Gavin studied BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Goldsmiths (2014-2017) and MSc in Genes, Environment and Development in Psychology and Psychiatry at the SGDP Centre, King’s College London (2017-2018).
When he’s not working, Gavin enjoys listening to audiobooks, watching tv, and eating Japanese food.
