PhD candidate in the Department of War Studies
Biography
Kit Perry holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton and a Master of Science in Guided Weapon Systems from Cranfield University. He has spent the last 13 years serving as a Weapon Engineer Officer. Currently, he is a PhD student at King’s College London War Studies Department, researching the implications of precision strike - including the role of hypersonic missiles and uncrewed systems on future naval warfare.
Research Interests
- Contemporary naval warfare with a specific focus on precision strike
- The implications of Hypersonic and Uncrewed Systems to naval conflict
- Contemporary historical analysis of the Tanker Wars, Falkland’s War, Russo-Ukraine War in the Black Sea, and Houthi Red Sea conflict
- Potential contingencies centered around a Taiwan strait escalation
- Wargaming
Kit’s current research is focusing on the use of wargaming as a methodology, informed by contemporary maritime conflict, to model the effectiveness of potential game changing weapon systems and their utility within a possible cross strait escalation.
The results of which will be used to draw broader inferences on the far-reaching consequences of a ‘Mature Precision Strike Regime’ writ large and reveal the subsequent implications to future Western naval force structure, doctrine, platform design, and capabilities.
