Biography

Dr Matteo Cella is a Reader in Clinical Psychology and a Clinical Psychologist for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

 

His research interest focuses on psychological interventions for people with severe mental health conditions, particularly targeting cognitive and motivational difficulties and poor functioning . This interest expands to the area of psychosis early intervention and bipolar disorder and includes the systematic evaluation of interventions and the assessment of moderators and mediators to improve treatment efficacy and personalisation.

 

Matteo’s research evaluates the use of digital technologies including wearables devices, mobile phones and virtual reality to improve assessment and interventions for people with severe mental health conditions. Other current research focuses include health service interventions to improve access to mental health care and the involvement of people with lived experience in strengthening mental health care evaluation and implementation.
