Dr Sahuri Arisoylu has joined the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies in 2024 as a Research Fellow in Mitochondrial Medicine for Liver Disease Lab. She has an MSc and a PhD degree from Imperial College London and experience as a researcher in both academia and industry. Her previous research interests focused on understanding the importance of mitochondrial function in disease and health. Her current work focuses on investigating the changes in mitochondrial dynamics and function due to Alcohol-Related Liver Disease (ALD) and Metabolic Dysfunction and Alcohol-Related Steatotic Liver Disease (MetALD), specifically focusing on megamitochondria to assess their physiological importance which could help in diagnosis and treatment of ALD and MetALD.
