Dr Norah Fogarty

Group Leader

Biography

Norah obtained her PhD from the Centre for Trophoblast Research at the University of Cambridge, where she studied transcriptional dynamics in the syncytiotrophoblast of the human placenta. She subsequently undertook postdoctoral training in the lab of Prof. Kathy Niakan at the Francis Crick Institute employing single-cell RNA-sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing and molecular anlayses of human embryos to elucidate lineage-specific gene expression. Norah was awarded a King's Prize Fellowship to establish her own group in April 2020.

    Research

    human embryo brightfield
    Trophoblast and human embryo lab

Our lab seeks to discover the molecular processes that underlie early placenta development.

From Dev Biology to Regen Medicine-hero
From Developmental Biology to Regenerative Medicine

Understanding organ development and tissue regeneration provides a framework for elucidating disease mechanisms as well as for developing new therapeutics.
