Dr Ruimin Ma

Lecturer in Psychosis Studies

Biography

Ruimin completed her BSc in Psychology at the University of Sheffield, followed by an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Science and a PhD in Psychiatric Research at University College London.

She joined King’s College London in 2020 as a Research Associate in the Department of Psychological Medicine. Her research focuses on the complex relationship between physical and mental health in people living with severe mental illness, using large-scale linked routine healthcare data. She has a particular interest in understanding the impact of chronic pain and multimorbidity, with the goal of developing more accessible physical health monitoring and treatment services, ultimately improving outcomes and quality of life for patients.

Research Interests

  • Early identification and treatment of physical illness and multimorbidity
  • Sexual health and sexual dysfunction
  • The role of loneliness and social connections in supporting recovery
  • Promoting functional recovery, including return to work

Teaching & Education 

Dr Ruimin Ma co-leads Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Women’s Mental Health modules on the MSc in Mental Health Studies, Introduction to Organisational Psychiatry module on the MSc in Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology.
