Biography

Shiyu Yuan is a Research Fellow at King’s Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, where she examines gender inequality, flexibility stigma, and workers’ well-beings in the evolving landscape of work. She is also a PhD student in Social Policy, researching the intersection of work-family policies, fertility decisions, and gender equity. Her current work explores how working from home shapes fertility and gender equality across Europe, with the aim of informing policies that support working families and promote work-life balance. Shiyu holds a Master’s degree in Taxation and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Her broader research interests include work flexibility, family well-beings, gender inequality, and comparative labour market policies across East Asia and Europe. She is also an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kent, where she has taught Social Research Methods, Data Analysis, and Gender, Work & Equality Modules. She is proficient in R, Python, and Java for data analysis and programming.
