CArdiovascular Inflammation Registry (CAIR)

Welcome to the CArdiovascular Inflammation Registry (CAIR), a global initiative led by King's College London. CAIR is dedicated to understanding the role of inflammation in cardiovascular diseases such as myocarditis, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. By collecting and analysing routinely available clinical data, we aim to improve patient outcomes, identify risk factors, and explore new therapeutic possibilities.

About CAIR

What is CAIR?
CAIR is an international, observational registry collecting clinical data on patients with cardiovascular diseases associated with inflammation. Our goal is to study how inflammation influences disease progression and outcomes, ultimately contributing to better care and innovative treatments.

Why Inflammation?
Inflammation plays a key role in cardiovascular health and disease. Dysregulated inflammatory responses can lead to complications such as fibrosis, ventricular remodelling, and heart failure. Understanding these processes is crucial for developing targeted interventions.

Our Vision
We aim to bridge gaps in knowledge about inflammatory cardiovascular diseases, enabling clinicians and researchers to improve patient care through data-driven insights.

Registry Design

Who Can Participate? Patients aged 13 and above with a formal diagnosis of a cardiovascular condition requiring hospitalisation and associated with inflammation. There is no direct patient involvement as the data is derived from routine clinical care.
How Does It Work?
Data is anonymised and securely entered into the REDCap platform by participating centres worldwide. Parameters include patient demographics, medical history, clinical examination results, imaging findings, blood tests, and long-term outcomes.

Research Objectives

To analyse the contribution of inflammation to cardiovascular disease progression.
To identify risk factors associated with long-term adverse outcomes.
To explore potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory cardiovascular diseases.
