Biography

Zamri Hussin is a PhD Researcher in the Centre for Host–Microbiome Interactions. He has an MSc in Clinical Dentistry with Distinction (Periodontology) from the University of Manchester (2018) and a BDS from Newcastle University (2012). He also has a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a consultant periodontist and dental lecturer at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.

Zamri's doctoral work centres on advancing adjunctive inflammation-resolution therapy in the context of Minimally-Invasive Non-Surgical Therapy (MINST) for deep periodontal intrabony defects. The core intervention under evaluation is a lipoxin-mimetic mouthwash, designed to promote specialised pro-resolution activity in periodontal tissues.

His research employs a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach integrating clinical outcomes with advanced analytical platforms. His PhD aims to investigate how this novel approach influences clinical healing and microbiome-host response dynamics by analysing metagenomic changes, lipid mediator and proteomic signatures, and AI-driven radiomics.

By elucidating the precise mechanistic pathways involved in the therapeutic modulation of inflammation, the ultimate goal of Zamri's work is to establish biologically driven strategies that significantly improve periodontal healing and contribute to the emerging field of precision periodontics.
