Biography

Zhong Chen is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Accounting and Finance at King’s College London. His research sits at the intersection of financial technology and corporate finance, with a particular focus on machine learning in finance, blockchain, mergers and acquisitions, and sustainable finance. His work has been published in leading journals including Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Contemporary Accounting Research, and has received Best Paper Awards from the U.S. Southern Finance Association Annual Conference and the British Accounting and Finance Association Annual Conference. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies and contributes to programme committees for major international conferences.

Dr. Chen’s research informs practice and policy: his insights have been featured by Bloomberg and Chinese Weekly, cited by the asset manager WisdomTree Investments, and referenced in policy discussions at OECD/UNCTAD. At King’s, he teaches Mergers & Acquisitions at both MSc and BSc levels and supervises doctoral researchers who now hold positions in academia and industry, including at Bayes Business School, Southwest University of Economics and Finance, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Southern Asset Management. His research has been funded by the Centre for Sustainable Business Seed Funding and the Research Incubator Fund.
