The Galloway & Norton Group is a Clinical Epidemiology and Trials research team focused on immune‑mediated rheumatic diseases. We harness large‑scale real‑world data, advanced biostatistics and pragmatic clinical trials to evaluate treatment safety, optimise therapeutic strategies and reduce health inequalities. Our work spans observational pharmaco‑epidemiology, target‑trial emulation, and early‑phase proof‑of‑concept studies, delivered through wide‑ranging collaborations across the NHS, academia and industry.

Professor James Galloway is a Professor of Rheumatology at King’s College London and an Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at King’s College Hospital. He leads a multidisciplinary research team focusing on clinical epidemiology, health outcomes, and pharmacovigilance in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. His group employs big data analytics and real-world evidence to assess treatment responses and healthcare delivery, with a particular interest in rare diseases such as sarcoidosis, IgG4-related disease, and VEXAS syndrome.

Professor Sam Norton holds a joint appointment across the Department of Psychology and the Department of Inflammation Biology at King’s College London. His expertise lies in research methods and statistics, particularly psychometrics and longitudinal data analysis. Professor Norton collaborates on large prospective cohort studies and trials of complex interventions, primarily focusing on the psychological aspects and quality of life in individuals with inflammatory arthritis.
