Our mission is to train the next generation of highly skilled researchers to tackle the immense challenges presented by microorganisms worldwide through cutting-edge technological innovation and real-world translational impact. Co-created with the Rosalind Franklin Institute (RFI), staff at UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and leading industry partners, this interdisciplinary PhD training programme is delivered within KCL's unique cross-faculty ecosystem spanning infectious diseases, immunology, pharmaceutical sciences, host-microbiome interactions, chemistry, computational biology and life course & population sciences, and integrated with King's Health Partners and KCL’s Microbes in Health & Disease Research Interest Group.
By combining world-class microbial sciences expertise with immediate clinical translation capability, the Translational Research & Innovation in Microbial Sciences (TRIMS) King’s Prize Doctoral Programme addresses critical skills shortages while advancing solutions to urgent global health challenges related to microorganisms, including but not limited to antimicrobial resistance, emerging infections, and microbiome-based therapeutics.
