MPhil/PhD funding opportunities for international students

The Centre for Doctoral Studies administers a range of postgraduate research degree (PGR) funding schemes that are open to international students. Please visit the Research & Innovation webpages for updates on funding for international postgraduate research students.

Mexico

CONACyT 

CONACYT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) offers scholarships to Mexican students enrolling on postgraduate courses. The scholarships fund study in both taught and research courses, in key priority areas (as specified by CONACYT).

FIDERH 

The Fund for the Development of Human Resources (FIDERH) is a federal trust fund, administered by the Bank of Mexico for more than 40 years, in order to finance postgraduate studies of Mexican students. They are also part of the System of Public Research Centres of CONACYT.

Chile

Conicyt/ Anid  

King's College London and the Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo, ANID (formerly The National Commission for Scientific & Technological Research, CONICYT), Chile, have signed an agreement to offer a fee discount to Chilean ANID/CONICYT Scholars who enrol on postgraduate programmes at King's College London.

Columbia

Colfuturo Loan Scholarship Programme 

COLFUTURO is a joint public and private sector initiative aimed at facilitating the access of Colombian professionals to further education abroad.

Colfuturo Semillero de Talentos Program  

COLFUTURO is a joint public and private sector initiative aimed at facilitating the access of Colombian professionals to further education abroad. The Support being offered is a full tuition fee-waiver for one student who has already received an unconditional offer of admissions from a 12 month Master's programme at KCL.

USA

Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship  

Fulbright Awards are scholarships for American students wanting to study abroad.

King’s College London Marshall Scholarship  

Marshall Scholarships are for American students for Graduate Study in any subject at either Masters or Doctoral level at Kings College London and will be for up to two years (with a possibility of a third year for doctoral studies).

China

King’s China Scholarship (K-CSC) 

This opportunity supports students from China who are seeking to study an MPhil/PhD degree at King's College London.

Egypt

Egyptian Bureau for Cultural & Educational Affairs  

This is a brand-new scheme that was introduced at the end of 2020 to support Postgraduate Research students from Egypt.

Turkey

Turkish Embassy Scheme  

To consolidate the relationship between King's College London and the Turkish Embassy Education Consultancy in London, an agreement was signed in 2018 to support postgraduate study for Turkish students at King's College London. This scheme is to support Master's and PhD students from Turkey.

Palestine

Said Foundation Scholarship  

This scholarship aims to promote education and development in the Middle East by providing opportunities to outstanding individuals who show potential to become leaders and innovators of change.  

Fully funded scholarships are available for students from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine, to support the study of one year master's programmes at King's College London.

HESPAL

Commonwealth Countries

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships (for least developed countries and fragile states) 

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are for candidates from least developed countries and fragile States in the Commonwealth, for full-time doctoral study at a UK university.

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships (for high income countries) 

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are for candidates from high income countries for full-time doctoral study at a UK university.  

Funded by the UK Department for Education (DfE), Commonwealth PhD Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.
