Do you want to learn more about how organisations and society are transforming through technologies like AI and Virtual Reality? And how professionals navigate digital transformation and effectively integrate emerging technologies into their work? Do you want to equip yourself to make a meaningful difference to these changes? A high proportion of change initiatives, including technologically focused ones, fail. This is often because of a limited understanding of human-technology collaboration. Adopting perspectives from social science, this MSc will enhance your knowledge of new technologies and, more importantly, foster your understanding of the practices, processes, and structures of work in contemporary society. This will equip you to bridge the gap between cutting-edge and evolving technologies and the people who drive their success. You do not need skills in coding or maths to enrol in this MSc, as the core modules focus on the application of social science theories and techniques.

Key benefits

  • King’s Business School is an ideal home for this Masters, given its strategic research focus on digitalisation; the focus on technology and expertise in the Public Services Management & Organisation department; and our connections to the King’s AI Institute
  • The programme is designed to support you to develop a ‘digital mindset’ – that is, an appreciation of the realistic potential for, and limitations of, new technologies
  • Engagement with experts from public, private and third sector organisations who will discuss the implementation and evaluation of new technologies
  • Opportunities to apply knowledge and skills developed on the programme in an intensive team-based design sprint
  • Enjoy an unrivalled location in the centre of London
  • Apply for King’s Business School scholarships of up to £10,000 for our full-time postgraduate courses
Soba Dakuku-Peterside

“This programme has furthered my expertise in these areas and equipped me to integrate technology into my business strategy, especially as we prepare to scale.”

Soba Dakuku-Peterside, Management & Technological Change Student

The rapid proliferation of digital tools and new technologies presents unique opportunities for every organisation, whether in the public, private or non-profit sectors. However, these technologies are created, implemented, used, and accepted or resisted by people, so understanding the relationships between people and technologies is fundamental to understanding new opportunities and challenges for organisations. Furthermore, tools like generative AI and robotics give rise to complex and contested relationships between people and technologies – raising questions around ethics, expertise, trust and accountability. Indeed, in many cases, the reason for the success or failure of technology projects is not down to technical issues, but rather the extent to which technologies resonate with people – their expectations, their work practices, their knowledge and their skills. Therefore, this programme is designed to support you to better understand the social and organisational contexts in which technologies are deployed and used. It demystifies new technologies; introduces methods and techniques to understand ‘user’ needs; and reflects on alternative approaches to managing change. This combination is vital for those leading and adapting to change in organisations.
