The Centre for Doctoral Studies helps secure funding for students interested in postgraduate research by providing advice on and administering a range of funding opportunities, scholarships, and studentships.

Africa International PGR Scholarships

King's College London invites applications from international students from Africa for three full scholarships to undertake a full-time PhD at King’s College London starting in 2020/21. Funding is available for up to 4 years.

The topic of the PhD must clearly be relevant to the continent of Africa. Interdisciplinary projects are especially encouraged and all projects should fall at the intersection of two or more of the following themes or disciplines:

  • Conflict, Peace, & Security

  • Global Health

  • Development

  • Digital Technology

These scholarships cover international tuition fees, an annual stipend, and a Research Support Grant.

Funding to support Joint PhD Programmes

King's China Council Scholarships

King's College London and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) hold an agreement to jointly fund PhD students to pursue research degrees at King's College London. 

As part of the agreement, successful students will receive a scholarship that covers the tuition fee, an annual living allowance that includes overseas student health cover, a return airfare to London and visa application fees.

Up to 100 K-CSC scholarship awards will be available for the 2020-21 competition.

Funded PhD Opportunities in Science & Engineering

The Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) Doctoral Training Partnership at King’s College London offers PhD Research Studentships across the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences and the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, particularly in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences.

King's A*STAR PhD Studentships

The A*STAR and King’s College London Studentships are fully-funded awards; this includes tuition fees, stipend and bench fees.

Students recruited to these studentships will spend a maximum of 2 years of the studentship in Singapore at an A*STAR Research Institute with the named A*STAR supervisor on each project.

Students will receive a consumables budget and stipend from A*STAR in line UK Research and Innovation minimum rates. The Award will also include a one-time airfare grant, medical insurance and a one-time settling in allowance.
