Overview

Our Mathematics with Management & Finance BSc provides a rigorous foundation in advanced mathematics combined with an in-depth understanding of key management and finance principles and emerging trends.

In the first two years you’ll cover core subject areas, with the ability to choose from a range of modules across both departments from first through to the fourth year (where there are extensive options). You can choose to specialise in specific areas of mathematics, management and finance or explore a broad range of subjects that interest you.

You will spend your third year gaining valuable work experience with a year-long placement at a UK company before returning to complete a final year with us. Finding an industry placement will require students to be resourceful and engaged. The Faculty has dedicated placement support providing advice and host employer-led events, ensuring you have all the tools to secure the right placement for you.

The programme equips you with a highly sought-after skillset, enabling you to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to data-rich environments in management, finance and tech.

Course essentials

The Department of Mathematics at King’s College London has a long and distinguished history as a world-leading centre for research and education. By joining us, you will learn from and work alongside some of the foremost mathematical minds in the world. Our goal is to develop graduates with a pioneering mindset through research-led teaching, which encourages new ways of looking at familiar issues and develops innovative tools to solve complex problems.

Our BSc in Mathematics with Management & Finance develops your proficiency across all branches of mathematics including algebra, analysis, statistics, geometry, probability and number theory. This is combined with a quarter of your course focusing on building your understanding of key management disciplines, including accounting, communication, marketing, economics and human resource management. As you progress through the course, you’ll integrate your learning across disciplines through modules on mathematics for finance.

From second year onwards you can start to specialise in the areas that interest you, or take a broader approach studying a range of topics, including choosing from a huge array of modules in third year in both mathematics and management and finance.

In your third year you can pursue a professional internship and get paid a salary to work for a company. We help you secure these competitive year-long placements by providing support from King’s Career Services, a Maths academic Year in Industry lead and a dedicated Faculty Placement Coordinator.

On returning from industry in your fourth year you can choose to apply your learning across three years to tackling a dissertation on a topic of your choose related to mathematics for business and finance, benefiting from close supervision by one of our world-leading experts.
