Maternity , Adoption, Surrogacy and Shared Parental Leave

  • King’s Maternity Pay offers eligible staff up to 20 weeks of full pay regardless of when they joined King’s.
  • King’s Adoption Pay offers eligible staff up to 20 weeks of full pay, with no requirement to qualify for statutory payment.
  • King’s shared parental leave up to 18 weeks for eligible staff

Paternity and partners leave

We offer up to six weeks paid leave, for eligible staff, with no requirement to qualify for statutory payment.

Childcare Subsidy

Our Childcare Subsidy Scheme offers a 20% subsidy for children not yet receiving government funding (currently under three years of age) who receive childcare from an Ofsted registered provider.

Other ways we support you

  • Dependents Leave: For use in emergencies, we normally allow up to 3 days paid leave.
  • Compassionate Leave: Normally we allow up to five days paid leave, though understand that sometimes you will need less and other times more.
  • Fertility Leave: Up to 5 days paid leave per year.
  • Carers Leave: Up to 5 days of unpaid leave pro rata in any 12 month period.
  • Carers Development Fund: This scheme is designed to ease the pressure on parents and carers who may have additional care costs incurred because of attending conferences or other important networking events, which fall outside of their normal working hours.
  • Access to discounted holiday clubs for children.

Nursery facilities

Staff can apply for places in the nurseries run by our NHS partners at St Thomas’ Hospital. We have also identified a nursery provider close to our Waterloo Campus for your consideration.
