Law and technology

cybergavel-Cropped-425x260

Good laws and good government have always been the cornerstones of successful societies.  Yet today communications and travel are making the world seem a smaller place and many of the issues we face now are global: poverty, terrorism, climate change and disease.

Conflict and uncertainty between the laws of individual nation states create weakness in the fight against global crime and terrorism and hamper international trade and cooperation.  Our School of Law is structured to encourage a global viewpoint.

Observing that the revolution in mobile and internet communications have left lawmakers struggling to keep pace, the School responded by establishing the Centre for Technology, Ethics and Law in Society (TELOS), focusing on the legal implications of technological advances with particular reference to developing the right international regulation frameworks.
