Dr Vince Cable lauches Centre of Construction Law Guidance

At the 2014 Government Construction Summit, Dr Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business Innovation & Skills, announced the launch of Project Procurement & Delivery Guidance authored by the King's College, London Centre of Construction Law.

The Guidance is based on research by the Centre of Construction Law demonstrating how the 'Two-Stage Open Book' approach to construction projects can deliver savings for public sector clients combined with improved social value such as regional jobs & business opportunities.

In response to a question from Professor David Mosey as to Government follow through on the Guidance, Dr Cable confirmed that he had invested personal political capital in the strategy of which the Guidance forms part and had spoken to the Opposition to ensure that it survives the outcome of the 2015 General Election.

The Centre is continuing its research in this field, including the mentoring of several Trial Projects to test the impact of the new Guidance on central & local government construction procurement.
