Global Child Dental Health Taskforce

The establishment of the Global Child Dental Health Taskforce project in 2006 was called for by over 40 senior dental advisors and Chief Dental Officers in September 2005 at the UK European union Presidency meeting in London. The global task force project was consequently established in January 2006 with a five-year grant from the UK government with its mission supported by the World Health Organization.

Ian Cook, Colgate-Palmolive’s Chief Operating Officer, announced on April 21, 2006 at the New York Stock Exchange that the support for the Global Child Dental Health Taskforce project was to be Colgate’s 200th anniversary gift to children worldwide. He pledged 30 million dental health packs to the project over a five year period.

The Global Child Dental Health Taskforce is currently established in India, the Philippines, China, Mexico, Brazil, United States of America, South Africa and Australia / New Zealand. In 2007 Archbishop Desmond Tutu agreed to be the projects inaugural patron.
