The Global Child Dental Health Taskforce

Little girl from Asia smiling. The Global Child Dental Health Taskforce (GCDHT) was established in January 2006 after 40 European senior dental advisors and chief dental officers collectively recognised the need for its formation at a European Union Presidency meeting  held in England (Sept 2005), to raise the profile of the oral health agenda and to bring it in line with the general health agenda, on a global scale.  The project is supported by the UK government (with a five year grant) and its mission is endorsed by the World Health Organization.

The GCDHT's mission is to significantly improve the provision of dental health for children across the world.  It aims to achieve this mainly through developing national and international Public Private Partnerships, coordinating services, implementing national educational programmes and promoting evidence based oral health messages.
