Sexualisation and culture seminars
Rosalind Gill, Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis, leads a new international seminar series funded by ESRC entitled 'Pornified? Complicating the debates about the sexualisation of culture.' Situated in the context of growing public concerns about sexualisation, the series asks: 'Are we seeing a 'sexualisation of culture'?
Rosalind Gill has researched and written extensively on the topic of sexualisation, and is currently conducting research with 'tweens' into how they negotiate sexualised media. Professor Gill leads the ESRC award in partnership with Dr Jessica Ringrose (Institute of Education) and Dr Emma Renold (Cardiff University).
There will be a total of 5 seminars between 2010 and 2011, and the series will conclude with an international conference in November 2011.
The programmes for current and previous seminars in the series are downloadable via the links at the bottom of the page.
