Biography
I have a background in social science and theology and came to King’s in 1990 to establish an MA in theological education to complement the religious education provision already offered by the department. The MA became part of a thriving graduate research culture which, with the assistance of the Dean’s Office, by 2003 had developed into a successful partnership with the department of Theology & Religious Studies, including a taught doctorate (DMin) and an extended MA modular programme.
The Centre for Theology Religion and Culture – now the focus of both research and teaching in religious studies - evolved from a cross Schools research centre The Centre for Theology and Culture which I began at King’s in 1995 and was itself influenced by my involvement with the late Bishop Lesslie Newbigin and his missiological critique of anodyne British religiosity.
