Chinese Governance Innovation Research Centre

Members and associates of the Chinese Governance Innovation Research Centre (CGIRC) recognize and critically analyze the complexities of conceptual change in social, economic and political governance in China and the challenges to governance innovations present in China’s continuous efforts to increase its governance capacity and to reform its governance system. CGIRC, based in the Lau China Institute at King's College London, encourages engagement with and involvement in governance innovation in China necessary to develop and implement innovative, relevant and robust evidence-based policy research. The Centre welcomes, promotes and facilitates collaboration on governance-related themes with affiliates and associates within and outside the College, strengthening academic links with similarly focused colleagues in its contribution to policy debates on Chinese governance. CGIRC was launched in December 2012 with a gift from a sponsor supporting a series of research activities including a major ongoing project on China’s party-state governance.
