Complete University Guide recognises Arts & Humanities excellence

Five Arts & Humanities departments have been ranked among the nation's top ten in the Complete University Guide 2015, which was published this month.

The Department of History rose two places in the rankings, from 11th in the country to 9th, to join the Departments of Classics, Music, French and Philosophy in the country's top ten for their respective subjects.

The Department of German also rose four places, from 18th to 14th, in the Guide's rankings. Meanwhile the College as a whole maintained its place inside the country's top 30 universities.

The Complete University Guide is one of the UK's three national higher education rankings, and publishes its independent University League Tables each spring for the year ahead.
