Dr Polina Tambakaki at the Megaro Mousikis, Athens
Dr Polina Tambakaki, George Seferis Research Associate in Modern Greek and Comparative Literature in the Centre for Hellenic Studies, gave an invited lecture as part of a forum on Music-Art-Science at the prestigious Athens concert hall, the Megaro Mousikis, organised by the Lilian Voudouri Musical Library of Greece.
The lecture took place on 15 January. Dr Tambakaki spoke about the relationship between music and poetry, which is also the subject of her book The Musical Poetics of George Seferis, based on her KCL doctoral thesis, that was shortlisted for the Diavazo prize for criticism in 2012. The aim of the series of lectures is described as ‘to demonstrate points of convergence among the humanities and to bring about a dialogue between arts and sciences.
